好久没读轻松小说，Ali Smith还是首选。这次读的是她09年初的短篇小说集《The First Person and Other Stories》。第一篇关于short story本身，Alice Munro says that every short story is at least two short stories. 第一篇就把我对好朋友的回忆套在了两个男人关于长篇小说和短篇小说的对话里，之后每一篇都有戏中戏。Cynthia Ozick says that a short story is more like the talismanic gift given to the protagonist of a fairy tale – something complete, powerful, whose power may not yet be understood, which can be held in the hands or tucked into the pocket and taken through the forest on the dark journey.

最莞尔的几篇：

超市里无人要的婴儿被强行安在我身上，所有人都把它当成我的孩子，本以为故事到此是讲社会对女性当妈的期待，结果婴儿突然开口像大人一样和我对话；

四十多岁的我和十几岁时的自己在一张桌子上吃饭，彼此好奇对方的生活状态；

同名的最后一篇the first person最甜，you are not the first person, but you are the one right now, I am the one right now, we are the one right now. 我看着放在花园里的餐桌，I know for the first time that I maybe don’t own anything，那一刻太美了。

现实很烦躁的当下总能在Ali Smith的长篇短篇里找到些抚慰，而且可以在她早期的短篇里发现后来长篇的碎片。
